The Eagle has landed!

Howdie! So I've been here for just over a week. In that time I have truly surprised myself with how productive I have been. I have....bought and made (ok, had two guys come and make) a bed. A huge one. I've set up gas and electricity, and installed internet...on my own! I've been and registered for my social security number and almost...almost got myself a car. No phone yet though..well I do have a prepaid one that I'm sinking substantial funds into...me, and all the othe drug dealers and prostitutes in San D!

I arrived last Wednesday evening. It was really quite weird being in my new apartment, with no furniture and really nothing around me that felt mine. I love it though. Its a great pad, lovely oak flooring and a fab balcony that I've already made ample use of. Speaking of which, I did some sun bathing over the weekend, eager to take my ghostly shade of pale up a notch. I've identified a problem with solo tanning. I can't reach every spot on my back. I didn't realise I'd missed a spot until it was too late. I have a rather unpleasant red square located centrally between the shoulder blades. And boy did it give me hell. I had the more horrific burning itch on my first day in the office and was writhing around like a lunatic trying to relieve the pain. I had to make an emergency trip to the pharmacy and get some aloe vera for the situation...which I had to apply with a spatula I'd bought from Ikea the week before!! Sad times my friends.

As if that wasn't enough to make me feel ALONE, my only form of seating is a TWO man camping chair. Its two separate chairs joined together with a little drinks holder type thing. So in the evenings I plonk myself down on the balcony with a glass of wine and occasionally glance to my left at the empty chair next to me..I'm sure you can guess who I imagine to be in that chair!

I'd love to start posting some snaps up on to the blog and I had taken some great pics when I was in Asia recently, but at present I have no way to upload them. I will get on it soon I promise.

San Diego is gorgeous. I still can't believe I'm not on holiday, its definitely not sunk in yet. My neighbourhood is great, the road I live on is very quiet and wide but only a few streets away is a very cool area of bars and restaurants and I'm only a 'couple of blocks' away from Balboa Park, which I endeavour to check out this weekend.
The only thing is, like anytime I've moved somewhere new, I feel a little left out of the action. I know it's going on out there but I'm not part of it..yet! I wish I had my friends here because I know we'd have such a ball.

This weekend I'm going up to Carlsbad to hang out with my sister and the boys at the beach. Eli is a week old and utterly perfect. He sleeps a lot but I went to go and get him the other night when he'd woken up and he's just so tiny and soft. Such a cutey.

On another note, what did you all think of what Kate wore to her wedding. The Moss. You know I'm a huge fan.

No other major news this side. I have checked out some local Yoga places, and there are an abundance. I plan on getting involved. I had lunch at a place called The Cheesecake Factory today, an enormous chicken, bacon and avo club followed by my dream cake combo....Carrot Cake and Cheesecake. Who knew? Amazing in a 'I can't believe I've just eaten that, I want to be sick' kind of way.
